From June 18, 2024, to June 23, 2024, I rented a car online from SIXT, to be picked up at Sarajevo International Airport. Upon picking up the car on June 18, I was charged an additional €700 deposit, which they assured me would be refunded upon return. As an extra precaution given the international rental, I opted for full insurance coverage at an additional cost.
When I returned the car, they inflated minor issues that we didn't cause, charging me an extra €840. The car was rented for €850, and the so-called damage was just a loose screw, not due to any accident since we didn't have any. They dragged out the inspection process deliberately, knowing our flight was approaching, pressuring us into paying. Faced with the risk of missing our flight, we had no choice but to pay.
I returned the car in the same clean condition I received it, without any accidents. The additional charges are completely unjustified. I find it unacceptable for such a global company to operate this way. I will pursue all my rights regarding this unfair charge. In summary, SIXT is a regretful choice. I do not recommend it to anyone. They will find any excuse to withhold your deposit. Let everyone who reads this be aware. I had a bad experience and was wronged; don't let it happen to you. Below is a picture of the alleged damage for which they demanded €840—a complete joke.
