I rented a car from Sixt at Bodrum Airport, trusting the company’s reputation and my past positive experiences. I purchased the comprehensive Gold package insurance, which, as confirmed during the rental process, was supposed to cover everything except the loss of the car key and registration documents. However, on the second day of my rental, I noticed the front license plate had fallen off. I immediately reported this to the central office and was told it wasn’t an issue.
Despite this, I received a call on the day I returned the car, informing me that I owed ₺2,100 because the Gold package didn’t cover this situation. Sixt claimed that if there had been damage or an accident, the insurance would have covered it, which is an illogical explanation. I argued that the plate might have already been loose when the car was handed over, and this was not my responsibility.
After consulting with law enforcement professionals, I learned that replacing a single plate costs about ₺400, yet Sixt is charging me significantly more. This practice feels misleading and unprofessional, especially for a company of Sixt’s caliber. I request a review of my case, including the recorded phone conversations, and an immediate correction of this unjust charge. If no resolution is provided, I will have no choice but to pursue legal action.
