I reserved a car with Sixt two days in advance, carefully confirming the details over the phone at least five times. However, when I arrived to pick up the car, I was shocked to learn that additional insurance charges would be added on top of the quoted rental price. They initially promised me a 45% discount, yet when I arrived, they insisted I go to the airport branch to have additional insurance calculated, which added an unexpected ₺7,000 to the rental cost.
Sixt provided no prior warning about these hidden fees or additional requirements. They also explained that if I had an accident, I would need to file a police report; otherwise, I would be fully liable under their "new company policy." I was informed that even with insurance, it might only partially cover damages, putting full responsibility on the renter. This lack of transparency is unacceptable. I even visited a competitor, Grande, where the staff were stunned by Sixt's policies and assured me that their rentals come with full insurance.
I ended up agreeing to a rental rate of ₺11,000, yet they later added a daily ₺500 insurance charge, pushing the total to ₺17,000. Online, Sixt advertises extended discounts and promotions, but my experience was filled with hidden costs. I urge others to rent elsewhere, as I’ve rented many cars and have never encountered such a frustrating experience with undisclosed fees.
