Sixt Amsterdam Wrongly Charged Me €860 for Scratched Wheels Despite Full Protection
On August 3, 2025, I rented a Mini Aceman Automatic from the Sixt office in Amsterdam city center. During the rental process, I purchased the full protection package. However, after returning the vehicle to the Schiphol office, Sixt claimed there were scratches on the wheels and demanded an additional €860 payment.
I immediately emailed the documents proving that I had purchased full protection. Despite this, Sixt responded that my coverage only applied to damages over €1200, and therefore I was required to pay. This directly contradicts what I was led to believe when I purchased the insurance package.
Additionally, the €300 deposit I paid at the time of rental has still not been refunded.
My reservation number is 9603406228. Payments were made via both debit and credit card. This is the first time I’ve encountered such an issue. I find it unacceptable that, despite buying full protection, I am being charged extra and my deposit has not been returned.
I request the cancellation of the €860 charge and the immediate refund of my €300 deposit.
