Philips Azur Iron Causes Yellow Water Stains and Lime Deposits

I bought a Philips Gc4905/40 Azur iron about two years ago, and it has served me well until recently. Unfortunately, I've been having an annoying problem with the iron. It has left yellow water stains and lime deposits in the steam holes, making proper ironing difficult. Despite the fact that the warranty had not yet expired, I was told that this malfunction was not covered by the warranty. When I first attempted to use the warranty service, I was disappointed to learn that my problem was not covered by the warranty. This is an unacceptable response in my opinion, because the malfunction is clearly a product defect. It's very frustrating to spend money on a product that doesn't work as intended and then have the manufacturer refuse to stand behind it. I would like the manufacturer to resolve this issue, and I hope that they will stand behind their product and provide a solution to this frustrating situation.
