Pdfe.com Subscription Scam And Misleading Advertising
I am writing regarding an issue with PDFe’s subscription service, which is promoted as a free service but, in practice, led to an ongoing, undisclosed paid subscription. On 26 November 2025, I downloaded a file using PDFe, believing I was using a free service. No clear or transparent information was provided to me at the time that I was entering into a paid, recurring subscription. On 3 February 2026, I discovered that PDFe had been taking payments from my debit card without my informed consent, and without sending me any invoices or receipts by email. By this time, a total of AUD 266.41 had been withdrawn. I consider this practice misleading and, according to Australian Consumer Law, illegal, as it does not provide clear disclosure, proper consent to ongoing charges, or adequate documentation of the transactions. After noticing the charges, I contacted PDFe’s customer service multiple times by email. As a result, my subscription was cancelled, and I was offered only a 50% refund. I do not accept this as a fair resolution because I did not knowingly agree to this subscription in the first place, I was not invoiced for the charges, and I was not properly informed about the ongoing nature of the payments. I request a full refund of the total amount of AUD 266.41 that has been charged to my debit card and confirmation that no further charges will be made. I also expect PDFe to review and change its subscription and billing practices so that they comply with the Australian Consumer Law and do not mislead other consumers in the future.
