Opel Astra Warranty Failure
A problem occurred with the ignition of my 2021 OPEL ASTRA vehicle after a short drive on September 23, 2023. The key wouldn't come out of the ignition slot. After encountering the same issue on three to four drives, I left my vehicle at Beylikdüzü OPEL ERDEMİR service around 08:30 on September 25, 2023. My car's warranty had expired in June 2023. Unfortunately, I learned that the problem wouldn't be covered by the warranty since it occurred just three months after it expired. On the same day, around 11:15, I received a call from the service center informing me that my vehicle was ready. They mentioned that I could retrieve my vehicle by paying 774.38 TL. When I inquired about the procedure, they explained that they had applied a spray, and the fee was for the removal procedure. Considering the long history and brand value of a company founded in 1862, it's disappointing that a C-segment vehicle like the OPEL ASTRA had an issue where the key wouldn't come out of the ignition. I had hoped that OPEL, as a trusted brand, would provide a solution without charging a fee. Unfortunately, I had to pay 774.38 TL to retrieve my vehicle. Up until September 25, 2023, I could recommend OPEL vehicles, but from September 26, 2023, my advice to those around me, and especially to myself, is to avoid purchasing any OPEL vehicles. The responsibility for this decision lies not with the customers but with the reputation and experience that the OPEL brand has created. My suggestion is that since the 160-year-old OPEL brand appears to prioritize profit, they should reconsider charging customers for every service-related issue.
