I Faced Discrimination and Mismanagement at Nars IstinyePark Opening Gift Event
On May 24, 2025, I lined up at 8:30 AM outside IstinyePark mall for Nars’ advertised “first 50 people receive a gift card” event. I was 7th in line, yet because I wasn't a mall employee, I was not allowed to wait inside. Meanwhile, store staff from other retailers entered early using employee badges and lined up in front of the Nars store—well before the 10:00 AM opening. By the time the mall officially opened, over 200 people had gathered, and there was no fair or organized queue.
The night before, I had already warned a Nars employee this might happen. Instead of help, I was met with a classist comment: “Watsons employees aren’t the kind of people who shop here.” Despite promises that the morning queue would follow the outside lineup and that the manager would be present to ensure fairness, none of that was enforced. The manager was ineffective, simply saying “What can I do?” instead of offering any solution.
Even worse, photos of the crowd were taken without consent, a clear violation of KVKK (data protection law). If a proper name list had been collected instead, this unfairness could have been avoided. The disorganization, discrimination, and belittling attitude shown do not reflect the standards Nars claims to uphold as a global brand. I wasn’t just denied a gift card—I lost trust in a brand I used to be loyal to. I am not a competitor’s employee, as your staff suggested—I am a long-time customer, and now a former one. I strongly condemn this behavior and will never shop with Nars again unless this situation is acknowledged and addressed.
