Hertz in Kosovo Refused My Full Insurance and Demanded Extra Payment

As someone experienced in car rentals with three prior rentals in the Balkans, I was shocked by my recent experience with Hertz. I booked a 7-day fully insured rental through Discovercars.com to pick up at Pristina Airport in Kosovo. However, when I arrived, Hertz refused to accept the full coverage insurance I had already paid for, claiming I had to purchase insurance directly from them due to their company policies. Not wanting to risk driving without insurance, I was forced to pay an additional €105 for a second full coverage policy.

Later, when I contacted Discovercars.com, they informed me I already had full coverage and questioned why I paid again. They refused to issue a refund, claiming the policies were different. To make matters worse, the day before returning the car, I found a scratch on the front bumper caused by another vehicle. Despite having double insurance, Hertz demanded a police report and later claimed their insurance didn’t cover the damage. They tried to charge me an extra $100, which I refused to pay.

I’ve saved all the photos and documents as evidence, and this entire experience has left me extremely frustrated with Hertz. I will never rent from Hertz again!
