Gotogate Exhorbitant Fees - And Fraudulent Deduction For Cancelation

I purchased round-trip flight tickets Cairo–Mumbai for 28 May 2026 and Mumbai–Cairo for 12 July 2026 through Gotogate, with order number 1133-449-636, on EgyptAir. During and after this purchase, I was charged amounts and fees that I find unjustified and higher than what was shown or should have been applied. In total, my card was charged 143,xxx EGP and 139,113.85 EGP, which together equal 2,660.43 USD. This resulted in me paying a higher amount in EGP than expected. On top of this, Gotogate applied a card “credit” or so‑called online booking fee of 6,611.85 EGP (126.45 USD), with the explanation to “check with your bank as there is a fee for booking online.” I contacted my bank and they confirmed clearly that there is no such additional card or online booking fee from their side. This makes it evident to me that this extra amount was charged by the Gotogate platform itself under a misleading pretext. When the ticket had to be cancelled, an airline fee of 3,500 EGP (around 66.93 USD) was deducted as a cancellation penalty. However, EgyptAir’s own penalty amount was 3,000 EGP, so Gotogate has deducted more than the airline’s fee and kept the difference. In addition, a handling or service fee of 8,924 EGP (approximately 170.66 USD) was charged by Gotogate, even though this cancellation was due to a medical emergency. Medical documents and proof were, and can be, provided, yet no consideration or reduction was applied on these platform charges. I contacted EgyptAir, who refused to assist and directed me back to their partner. My bank confirmed there was no overcharge or extra card fee from their side. When I raised these issues with Gotogate via chat and asked for a detailed breakdown, an explanation of the extra fees, and why no reduction was given despite the medical emergency, the chat was abruptly disconnected, and I did not receive any clear or satisfactory response. I am requesting the following from Gotogate. First, a refund of the difference in fare that was deducted under the pretext of a bank charge of 126.45 USD, since my bank has confirmed no such fee exists on their side and this appears to be a double charge by the platform. Second, a refund of the difference in the penalty charges, as EgyptAir’s cancellation fee was 3,000 EGP but Gotogate deducted 3,500 EGP. Third, a full refund of the 170.66 USD handling/service fee, as this was a medical emergency and I am ready to submit all necessary medical documentation to prove this. I expect Gotogate to review my case, correct these overcharges, and refund the unjustified amounts as soon as possible.
