Europcar Skopje Charges $745 Damage Fee Minutes Before Departure Flight

Between May 22 and May 27, we rented an automatic Peugeot 2008 from Europcar in Skopje, North Macedonia. When returning the vehicle, although we specifically asked the agent to inspect the car, they claimed they were in a hurry and took delivery without conducting any inspection.

Approximately two hours after the return, they contacted us via WhatsApp claiming there was damage to various parts of the vehicle and charged $745 from İ K's credit card without our consent. Moreover, because this notice was sent roughly 20 minutes before our return flight was scheduled to board, we had no opportunity to object or assess the situation on-site. This transaction was executed unilaterally without sharing any photos, detailed reports, official records, or independent appraisal documents.

Following this, in our communications with Europcar customer service and relevant departments, no refund or reasonable resolution was offered despite our explicit demands. Throughout this process, we feel completely victimized and unjustly accused. We have initiated legal proceedings regarding the matter, and our case is being handled by our attorney.

I demand that Europcar refund the $745 unauthorized charge taken from İ K's credit card, put an end to these unilateral and undocumented damage claims, and structure their vehicle return process with transparent joint inspections to prevent similar situations from recurring.
