easyJet Flight Cancellation Chaos

I am writing regarding EasyJet flight EJU4542 scheduled on 08.05.2026 from Milan Malpensa to Paris Charles de Gaulle, which was cancelled due to a technical issue with the aircraft. The original departure time was 8:35 AM. At the airport, the alternative options offered to us verbally were to wait for a 4:00 PM flight with a risk of overbooking, to wait until the following day for another flight, or to book a new ticket with a different airline and request reimbursement later. We were also informed that, if we waited for another flight, it would be treated as an overbooking situation because they were transferring all passengers from the cancelled flight. In reality, the aircraft for our original flight never arrived in Malpensa before the gate opening time, and later another plane arrived with very few available seats, took only the passengers who happened to be there, and left. Because of this situation, the lack of certainty about having seats on the later EasyJet flights, and the information given to us by EasyJet staff, we were forced to purchase tickets with another airline in order to continue our journey. The replacement flight cost us 525.78 EUR. I contacted EasyJet customer service regarding reimbursement, but my request was refused, even though the option to book another airline and request a refund had been clearly given to us verbally at the airport. No satisfactory solution was provided. Given that the cancellation was due to a technical issue with the aircraft, that the original plane never arrived, and that we had to incur significant extra costs to reach our destination based on the information provided by EasyJet staff, I kindly request a full refund of the 525.78 EUR we paid for the replacement flight.
