Daikin MC55W Requires Costly Filter Despite 10-Year Guarantee Claim
In October 2024, I purchased a Daikin MC55W air purifier after being told that it required no filter replacement for 10 years, and I trusted this promise when paying approximately $207 USD for the product. I used the device only in my bedroom in Serdivan, Sakarya, in a normal household environment with no cigarette smoke. Despite this, I am now being told that the HEPA filter needs to be replaced and that I must pay for it. When I contacted the service center, I was told the filter may have been affected by humidity, while customer service suggested it could be user error. However, I specifically chose this product because of the promise of no filter costs for 10 years, and I even replaced another air purifier for this reason to buy Daikin instead. In addition, I recommended this product to at least three other people based on the same promise, and I now feel seriously misled. According to the information I received from customer service, a fee of approximately $151 USD is being requested for the KAFP080B4 MC55W / MCK55W electrostatic HEPA filter, and I was told that this filter cannot be ordered through service but only through the seller I purchased the product from (via Trendyol). Both demanding such a high fee after claiming “no filter replacement for 10 years” and attempting to place responsibility on the user have caused deep disappointment. I request that Daikin honor the promise made at the time of purchase and provide the HEPA filter free of charge. I also ask that my grievance be resolved and that potentially misleading statements of this nature be corrected so other customers do not face the same issue.
