Dyson Humidifier Malfunction Out-of-Warranty (3.5-Year-Old Product)

On October 21st, 2020, my Dyson Pure Humidify + Cool™ humidifier air purification fan, purchased from the website www.dyson.com.tr, malfunctioned after rarely being used for three and a half years. While the water tank was properly installed and filled, the device suddenly displayed a warning to install the water tank and stopped working.

Knowing the warranty had expired and despite there being no user error, I took it to the authorized Dyson service center in Ankara, Turkey, for a paid repair. They diagnosed a failure in the main circuit board and stated they couldn't repair it due to a lack of parts.

When I informed them of the legal obligation to provide paid repair and parts for a product within its usable lifespan, they offered a 25% discount on a new product purchase through their website. They framed this as a "Dyson retirement campaign" applicable to all customers, and I had 72 hours to decide.

However, the current price of the equivalent model is approximately 27,000 TL. Even with the discount, I would still need to pay roughly 20,250 TL more. Would a motherboard replacement truly cost this much if parts were available?

Furthermore, even if I accepted this questionable discount and attempted to buy a new product, they have no air purifier models currently in stock. So, even if I wanted to, purchasing a replacement is impossible.

In short, through no fault of my own, I'm forced to discard a perfectly functional 3.5-year-old Dyson product. In return, their solution offers almost nothing in terms of customer satisfaction.

Social media videos often portray Dyson as a company excessively concerned with customer satisfaction, where user errors are disregarded, and faulty products are replaced at no charge. Unfortunately, my experience paints a different picture. I deeply regret prioritizing the Dyson brand, believing their products were both robust and backed by strong customer support, despite their significantly higher market price compared to competitors. This situation reveals a company failing to uphold even its legal responsibilities.

I urge everyone to carefully consider these factors before purchasing Dyson products.
