Chery Omoda 5 Infotainment Screen Fails to Work and Caused Safety Risk
I own a Chery Omoda 5, and the infotainment screen frequently malfunctions. Sometimes it appears as if it will turn on, but then it fails. At times it takes 10 minutes after starting the car, other times 30 minutes, before the screen even loads. Because of this, I cannot properly use Bluetooth to connect my phone, which means I am unable to make calls while driving as the system is designed to allow.
I even recorded a video showing the issue, where the timestamps are clearly visible despite a minor error in how I said the time. The bigger problem is that when the screen did not power on, I received no reverse signal alert, and since the rear camera also failed to activate, I hit my right rear light while reversing because it was hidden in the blind spot of my mirror.
This incident shows that the malfunctioning screen is more than an inconvenience—it is a serious safety hazard. I am very concerned that if I bring the car to the service center, they will try to bill me for the damage. However, this issue is not my fault; it is directly caused by the vehicle’s defective system, which prevents me from using its promised safety features.
I demand that Chery investigates this complaint and resolves the malfunction under warranty. My damages should also be covered, as they occurred due to the failure of the car’s built-in systems. If this issue is ignored, I will have no choice but to escalate the matter to the Consumer Protection Authority.
