Casa Gardenia Barcelona Assigned Wrong Room and Booking.com Refused Help

I am writing to report a highly unsatisfactory experience with Casa Gardenia in Barcelona, booked via Booking.com, and to request an apology, a full refund, and compensation for the disruption and psychological impact. We traveled from Germany and had a reservation under the name Cicak Bayramova for a standard double room for the night of 29–30 November 2025, fully paid for two persons. Upon arrival, we were given a room of only about 9 m² with a single bed, clearly unsuitable for two adults. This contradicts the booking description and constitutes a breach of contract and consumer rights. When I raised this with the hotel staff, they behaved unprofessionally, making false claims such as “the price for single and double bookings is the same” and later “all large rooms were fully booked,” offering no solution or professional assistance. Because of this, we decided not to stay. The situation caused severe stress, anxiety, and headaches, disrupted our travel plans, and wasted time trying to resolve the issue. Contacting Booking.com was also unhelpful, as my complaint was forwarded to the hotel instead of being properly handled. Given these facts, I request a formal apology, a full refund for the booking, and compensation for the disruption, lost time, and psychological distress. I can provide screenshots and documents to prove the discrepancy between the booked room and the room assigned, as well as the amount paid for two guests.
