Budget Rental Germany Overcharges Customer for Full Tank After Half-Tank Return
On July 24, I rented a Seat Ibiza vehicle for a 1-day trip from the Budget office in Augsburg, Germany. During the rental, a deposit of €230 was charged to my credit card, and I picked up the vehicle with a full tank of fuel. The representative explicitly told me that if I returned the vehicle with a half-full tank, they would refuel the remaining portion themselves, deducting only the cost of the added fuel from my deposit, and that I would not be charged for a full tank. Relying on this information, I returned the vehicle with a half-full tank the next day, on July 25.
However, I later noticed that my credit card was charged for a full tank of fuel. Consequently, I suffered a loss due to both the initial high deposit held and being charged for a full tank, contrary to what was promised. Since the daily mileage limit for the vehicle was 400 km, my usage was well within the contract limits.
Following this situation, I contacted Budget Turkey. They informed me that they would forward the issue to the Germany office and that the process might take around 10 to 15 days. However, no concrete resolution or satisfactory explanation was provided, and I was merely asked to wait. I am experiencing a loss of trust due to this process and the lack of transparent information.
As a customer, I feel misinformed and unfairly overcharged. Regarding this rental made under the name Nazmi Kaan A***, I demand a thorough review of the full-tank fuel fee charged and any other extra deductions, the immediate refund of all unfairly collected amounts to my card, and a clear, written, and explanatory response regarding the resolution.
