Brooks Brothers Refused to Exchange My Belt Because of Its Size
Approximately two weeks ago, I purchased a belt from the Brooks Brothers store at Istanbul Ataşehir Metropol. Since the belt turned out to be too large for me, I went back to the store yesterday and requested an exchange. However, I was told that accessories cannot be exchanged.
I did not see any written notice in the store informing customers of this policy. In addition, when I purchased the belt, the store employee did not tell me that it was classified as an accessory and could not be exchanged. While I can understand such a restriction for certain items such as jewelry, I do not believe it is reasonable for a belt, which is a size-dependent product, to be non-exchangeable—especially when this restriction is not clearly disclosed to the customer before the purchase.
I request that Brooks Brothers allow me to exchange this belt because of the sizing issue. I also ask that if there are any restrictive return or exchange policies for certain product categories, these policies be clearly and visibly displayed in the store before customers make their purchases.
