Double Charged on Booking.com via Fake Telegram Account
I made a reservation through Booking.com for my trip to England using the following link: [Link]. After submitting a reservation request for accommodation through the app, I contacted the provided account on Telegram® as indicated on Booking.com's booking page. It stated: 'For reservation inquiries, please message our Telegram account @maria_1993_apartments to confirm your booking with the host. Alternatively, you can send us your Telegram number in the messages on Booking.'""
Following a conversation on Telegram, information such as name, dates of stay, and the number of people was requested. Subsequently, I received a payment link from Booking linked to Booking.View. Through a support chat on this page, I was informed that I would receive a confirmation SMS for payment and should submit the codes provided there. As I received codes twice, I submitted both, resulting in a double charge from my card.
Afterwards, the support chat was closed, and my access to the Telegram account was blocked. I informed Booking.com about this incident via email but have not received any response to date. Despite reporting to customer service that I fell victim to fraud conducted through Booking, and even though the Booking URL was copied, I was not assisted, and the listing was not removed.
Booking.com is the trusted platform and organization with which I conducted business. Therefore, the responsibility for the security and outcome of this incident lies with Booking. Despite a reservation and payment through Booking, there is no reservation information, and the whereabouts of the payment could not be determined.
I urgently request the immediate resolution of this vulnerability and the resulting damage.
