Dont Trust Booking.com - They Dont Take Responsability for Security

I had a travel reservation on Booking.com. Six days before check-in, I was contacted by someone claiming to be the hotel’s check-in manager. The hotel name, confirmation amount, dates, and my credit card details were all correct. They sent me a code, saying it was just for card verification to secure the booking, and that if I didn’t provide it, the reservation would be canceled. They assured me that no payment would be taken, and it was only to verify my card limit. Because this person knew all my personal booking details, I wasn’t suspicious and entered the code. As a result, ₺33,631 was charged to my card. It turned out that the people messaging me, who also used the correct hotel name and claimed to be hotel staff, were actually fraudsters. My personal data is stored in Booking.com’s system and should be protected under their responsibility. How was this data accessed? I am a Level 3 Genius member and have been traveling for years, yet despite this, Booking did not take responsibility for their own security failure. They asked me to send them all correspondence, my credit card statement, proof of my payment dispute with the bank, and the bank’s official rejection letter on headed paper, all in PDF format. I provided every document requested without missing anything. Booking.com did nothing to resolve my loss. This is very wrong, unprofessional, and truly shameful behavior that does not suit Booking.com’s reputation. Be careful — this system is not safe.
