Dirty Room and Broken AC at Katahai Hotel Chicago Ruined the Start of My Booking.com Stay
I made a reservation through Booking.com for a 3‑night stay at Katahai Hotel in Chicago, with check‑in on 2 June 2026, under reservation number 185553446. When I arrived at the hotel, the condition of the first room I was given was unacceptable: the room was dirty and the air conditioning was broken, which made the stay very uncomfortable from the beginning. After noticing these problems, I immediately contacted both the hotel and Booking.com customer service to report the dirty room and the broken air conditioning. Initially, I could not get any clear response or quick assistance, which added to my frustration at a time when I simply wanted to settle into my accommodation as planned. Eventually, after reaching Booking.com, my room was changed, I was upgraded to a superior room without any extra charges, and I was given a discount coupon for a future booking. Although I appreciate that my room was ultimately upgraded and a coupon was provided, the initial experience with the dirty room, the broken air conditioning and the lack of prompt support caused serious inconvenience and disrupted the start of my stay. I am sharing this complaint so that the issues with room quality and response time are taken seriously and so that similar situations can be avoided for future guests who book through Booking.com.
