Booking.com Created a Duplicate Hyatt Reservation and Charged Me Twice

I made a reservation for Hyatt House Scottsdale Old Town through Booking.com for the dates 10 June 2026 to 26 June 2026. During my first attempt to book, a pop-up appeared on Booking.com stating that the room was no longer available, so I assumed the booking had not gone through. A short time later, I tried again from my husband’s phone and that time I received a confirmation and receipt with reference number 5067060244. Afterwards, I checked my card and saw that I had been charged twice for the same stay, with two reservations created for identical dates. It appears that, despite the “room no longer available” message, the first attempt was still processed in the background and generated another reservation, which has the reference number 6551617844. Booking.com customer service informed me that both reservations are non‑refundable and said I would need to pay for both, even though I only need one room for these dates. This situation was clearly caused by a technical issue on the Booking.com side, not by any deliberate action on my part. I kindly ask your hotel to cancel the reservation with reference 6551617844 without penalty and not to charge or claim payment for this second, unintended booking, while keeping only the reservation with reference 5067060287 active for my stay from 10 June 2026 to 26 June 2026. I would greatly appreciate your support in resolving this and ensuring I am not financially penalized for a duplicate booking created by the platform’s malfunction.
