Alcatel MT40X Movetime Watch Malfunction Sent Thousands of SOS Calls
The power button on my child's Alcatel MT40X Movetime Family Watch 4G broke, so we couldn’t turn it on. Without our knowledge, the watch started sending countless SOS calls to the listed contacts, sending five SOS calls per second to a single number. Thousands of SOS calls and SMS messages were sent, and because we didn’t notice in time, our regular ₺100 monthly bill skyrocketed to ₺2,800 due to SMS overage charges. We were devastated.
When I contacted TCL customer service, they told me to send the watch to KVK service for inspection. They said they needed to determine if it was a device-related issue. I shipped the watch using the provided cargo number and waited 15 days, only for the device to be returned without being repaired. I also had to pay ₺100 for the shipping fee. They claimed they tried to contact us but couldn’t reach us. In the paperwork, they demanded ₺1000 for repairs.
There was no response.
