I Face False Smoking Fine and Harassment from Airbnb Host After Honest Review
On July 30, I stayed one night at an Airbnb in Bratislava (Reservation Code: HM9W4FSFAA). Due to my flight schedule, I checked in at 1:00 AM and left at 8:00 AM. The host left me a positive review on the platform, and I honestly rated my stay 3–4 stars based on my experience. Shortly after, the host began sending me insulting and offensive messages via WhatsApp, apparently upset about my rating. I have saved screenshots of these messages.
Two days after my departure, the host falsely accused me of smoking inside the property and reported this to Airbnb, which then attempted to charge me a €100 fine. I have never smoked in that apartment — or in any Airbnb — and can provide testimony from my Vienna host, where I stayed for three days immediately afterward. Despite providing Airbnb with all evidence, they sided with the host and upheld the fine.
I have not paid and do not intend to pay this unjust penalty. This incident shows a serious lack of customer protection and fair dispute handling on Airbnb’s part. I demand that Airbnb cancel this false fine, remove the baseless accusation from my account, and take action against the host’s harassment.
