I Got Unfair Cleaning Charges from Airbnb After Returning the Property Spotless
I booked a property in London through Airbnb from June 28 to July 14, 2025. We left the place cleaner than we found it, even though the carpets were already filthy upon arrival—we didn’t use them and placed them in the closet. Despite that, five days after checkout, the host demanded extra cleaning and damage fees via Airbnb.
They claimed the carpets needed cleaning and falsely accused us of smoking in the apartment—even though we do not smoke. It’s incredibly frustrating that Airbnb sided with these baseless accusations instead of protecting its users. I expected a more professional resolution process from a platform like Airbnb.
Airbnb needs to immediately review this situation and remove the unjust charges from my account. This incident has made me seriously question the credibility of their host verification and dispute resolution process. I urge other users to be extra cautious when booking through Airbnb.
