Air India Business Class Seat Was Broken and My Complaint Was Ignored
My recent business class flight with Air India turned up rather different from what I had anticipated. A concerning beginning, several passengers were told their seats were broken and were being reimbursed before takeoff. A fundamental business class courtesy is not offered—a welcome drink or even water—upon boarding. The crew appeared confused, and the safety talk was quick and lacking in appropriate life jacket or seat belt demonstration. Apparently able to recline flat, my seat was fixed in an upright posture. Efforts to change it left it somewhat slanted, making comfortable sitting or lying difficult. Two crew members battled to correct it, but the problem remained all through the journey. Worse, the given blanket was moist and the USB charging connector was non-functional. When I reported these problems to Air India following my trip, they told me there was no record of my complaint. For the trouble I went through, I thought a symbolic pay of £45 was unacceptable. I have asked for a careful examination of the situation, but they appear not motivated to help. I feel rather put down since Air India promotes a different kind of business class experience.
