Yapikredi Bank Deducted Money Without My Express Consent And Approval
I have had an investment account at Yapı Kredi Bankası, originally opened in 1996 during the Koçbank period, which has been completely inactive since 2011. I recently discovered that, without my knowledge or consent, account statements were allegedly sent to me by post in 2024 and 2025, and under the name of “postal expense,” regular charges were reflected to this inactive account. In reality, during all these years, I only recall receiving a single letter at my address, and apart from that, I did not receive any regular statements or postal deliveries. Although I did not request paper statements and have not used this investment account for years, the bank has, without obtaining my approval, claimed to have sent letters and, based on this, every three months charged 254 TL as postal expenses, reflecting these amounts as a negative balance and also applying default interest. As a result, on 30.12.2025, a total amount of approximately 6,832 TL was collected from my account. I find it completely contrary to the law and to customer consent that money is deducted in this way from an account that I do not use and for which I did not request statement delivery by post. I believe that charging postal expenses without my approval under the name of letter-sending costs and then deducting money from my account without my knowledge constitutes a serious problem in terms of both BRSA regulations and consumer rights. My customer number at Yapı Kredi is 398182, and my investment account is linked to the Gebze branch in Kocaeli. I contacted the call center, lodged my complaint, and requested an examination, but I was informed that the result of the review was “negative” and that no refund would be made. This response is absolutely unacceptable to me because the bank has applied fees and interest to an inactive account without my explicit consent and has collected money from my account without any information or approval. Additionally, please note that my pension from the Social Security Institution, my tenant's payments, and my long-standing automatic payments for natural gas, electricity, water, Turkcell, and TurkNet, which I will continue to make for the next 10-20 years, will be made through Yapı Kredi.
