İş Bankası Has Charged a Card Fee for an Unused Card for Years

İş Bankası charged a total of 553.88 ₺ as a card fee on my March 2025 statement, dated 10.03.2025, under the names Credit Card Annual Fee (527.5 ₺) and Credit Card Annual Fee BSMV (26.38 ₺), without my knowledge or approval. I have held my Maximum Credit Card for 14 years, yet despite my repeated requests, the 2000 ₺ limit has never been increased, and I have not used the card for years. The contract I originally signed did not state that an annual fee could be charged, and I have not signed any new agreement that would permit this. Furthermore, the Central Bank’s regulation, based on the Consumer Protection Law No. 6502, clearly states that no annual fee can be charged on a credit card that has remained inactive for at least 180 days. In today’s economy, a 2000 ₺ limit is already absurd, but charging a fee that exceeds a quarter of this limit for an unused card is even more unreasonable. As shown in my past statements, no previous billing was made because I never used the card. I do not accept this fee for a card I have used only four or five times in 14 years and will not pay it by the due date of 20.03.2025. While other banks offer me limits between 800,000 ₺ and 1,000,000 ₺ without charging fees, İş Bankası refuses to increase my limit and imposes such an excessive charge on a card I do not use, as if sending the message that they do not need me as a customer. I demand an immediate refund of this fee and an increase in my card limit. If this unjust debt is pursued legally on the 20th, I will take legal action, close my account, and cancel my card.
