Yapi Kredi Bank ATM Keeps Customer Cash and Delays Refund

On March 12, 2026, I attempted to withdraw $372 from a shared Yapı Kredi ATM located on Erkilet Boulevard in Kayseri using my Kuveyt Türk account. The ATM dispensed part of the money but retained the remaining amount, and a message appeared on the screen stating that the funds were blocked. I did not receive a proper warning or even a receipt.
Although the full $372 was deducted from my account, I only received $335 (₺10,800), meaning $37 was effectively swallowed by the ATM. I immediately contacted Kuveyt Türk customer service, and a request was created under reference number 4526791. I was informed that Yapı Kredi requires up to 46 days to review such cases.
I have contacted Kuveyt Türk three times so far, and each time I was told, “You must wait 46 days; if Yapı Kredi does not refund it, we will.” When I called again today, I was told there has still been no progress on Yapı Kredi’s side.
It is unacceptable, unprofessional, and irresponsible for a bank to make a customer wait 46 days to resolve an issue involving $37 that is clearly visible in the system and was retained by their ATM. I withdrew this money out of necessity, not convenience, and yet my funds are effectively being held hostage due to an ATM malfunction and interbank procedures.
I request that the $37 retained by the ATM be refunded to my account immediately, without excuses, and that the delays and lack of action in this matter come to an end.
