I bought a “Heavenly Bodies” Fairyloot book on Vinted on 10 February, listed as “new without tags” and “only read once”. When I received the book on 23 February, I immediately noticed that the title letters on the dust jacket were rubbed off and clearly damaged. This condition does not match the description I relied on when purchasing, as there was no mention anywhere in the title, description, or stated condition that the dust jacket was damaged. As soon as I noticed the defect, I tried to cancel the order by contacting the seller, only about two hours after buying the item, but they had already shipped it. After receiving the book, I requested a return through Vinted. My request was denied on the grounds that there was a picture in the listing where the damage was supposedly visible. However, I trusted the written description stating the book was “new without tags” and only read once, and there was no explicit disclosure of damage. I find it unreasonable to expect buyers to detect issues that the seller has not honestly stated in the condition and description. I contacted Vinted support multiple times after the return was refused and was essentially told I should look more carefully at photos next time I buy something. I found this response dismissive and rude, especially since I tried to follow the proper process and acted quickly when I noticed the problem. For order number 17992542156, I request a full refund and the possibility to return this defective book. I believe the item was misrepresented and that my request falls under fair and honest trading expectations on the platform. I kindly ask you to review this case again and resolve it in my favour.
