How to Secure Family Reunion Visa Appointment via VFS Global

I married a Bulgarian citizen and have been trying for three months to get an appointment for the D-type family reunion visa. However, the process has been frustratingly difficult, with no available appointments. Some sources say appointments are scheduled through VFS Global, while others claim they must be requested by emailing the consulate. Yet, VFS never shows open slots, and I’ve heard that agencies with inside connections grab any available appointments, sometimes securing them unofficially for a fee. It shouldn’t be this difficult to reunite with my spouse.
