We purchased tickets for our Adana-Amsterdam flight on July 26, 2024, through Turkish Airlines (THY). My spouse, our 10-month-old baby, and I had reserved adjacent seats in the front rows. However, three days before our flight, we received an SMS informing us that our seats had been separated. When we contacted THY about this issue, we were told that the change was made for operational reasons and that we could reunite our seats in the back rows for an additional fee.
This situation has caused us significant inconvenience. Why are we being forced to move from the front seats we specifically chose to the back rows? It is said that passengers with babies are provided with convenience and free seat merging, but then you separate the seats and demand a fee. If you had asked for a fee for the front row, I would have paid it since I specifically selected those seats. When I said I would pay whatever the fee is, they responded with, 'The seats next to you are full, sir.' How can you sell my spouse's seat without informing me? Our baby is currently listed in my seat, while the mother is in a different seat. We didn't prioritize who the baby should be with when we booked adjacent seats. But now they say it's impossible to give the baby to the mother. In this case, what will our 10-month-old baby do for a 4-hour flight without the mother?
We chose THY because it is an internationally recognized company, but what we are experiencing now is not acceptable even on a national level. I want to state that we will seek legal action to resolve this inconvenience.
