Turkish Airlines Seat Issue on Antalya-Istanbul Flight
For the Ramazan holiday, I purchased a ticket on 03.03.2024 from the THY website for my mother, for the Antalya - Istanbul (Sabiha Gokcen) - Antalya route. Due to her leg discomfort, I bought seat 2F in the front row for both flights.
On 06.03, I also bought tickets for my sister and her two children (a baby and a child) on the same flights. I wanted to buy seats 2D and 2E in the front row for them to stay together. However, they couldn't provide the same row seats because they could only offer window seats for passengers with babies. They didn't allow any changes either (due to name issues, etc.). The 2F seat I bought for my mother was canceled without a refund. I didn't make a fuss, as the important thing was for them to be together and help each other during the holiday period. Therefore, I bought seats 2D/2E/2F for both flights (thus, I paid twice for seat 2F).
Approximately two weeks later, I received an email on April 13th stating that the return flight was canceled. Apparently, TK and Ajet were having a system separation. I assumed they would definitely provide an alternative return flight. However, when there was no return flight, I called THY, and the nightmare began. THY started bouncing me back and forth between Ajet and THY like a ping-pong ball. The waiting times with Ajet were 38 minutes and 52 minutes (I was persistent and waited), but I got no result. Neither THY nor Ajet employees knew how to manage the process. This situation has occupied me for about 5 weeks. When I last called THY, they asked me to write feedback through their website. Eight days later, the feedback response said they couldn't provide a flight from Sabiha Gokcen, and we needed to cancel our ticket or fly from Istanbul Airport. When I asked about transportation from the Anatolian side to Istanbul Airport, they said I had to cover it myself.
In the end, we agreed to fly from Istanbul, but I requested front row seats (behind business class) again, as I had paid extra for 3 seats in the front row. THY said there were no available seats in the front row and that I needed to write feedback again regarding the seats I paid for. Additionally, they said they only saw 2 seats instead of the 3 I paid for.
Result: We still don't have seats on the return flight - I can buy seats for a fee through the THY website!
I deeply regret choosing THY! Our family has always preferred THY as our first choice. It turns out you can't manage such processes at all. I'm very disappointed.
