Due to oversold tickets on Turkish Airlines flight TK0346 (Istanbul-Tashkent flight) dated September 3, 2024 at 22:10 (Istanbul-Tashkent), I was offered the option of a free ticket or a cash payment in exchange for accepting the next flight. I accepted the free ticket option as it suited my personal interests better. At their office at the airport, a little after midnight, close to the closing of the office, they issued and handed us what they said was a free ticket document and told us that we could check the tickets in a few days. Yes, there is a flight booked, but they told me that in order to use the ticket, I would have to go to the airport and find out on the day of the flight whether I would be able to use the flight right or not, depending on the availability of the flight (the customer support line never clearly explains what this availability means)! (we are talking about an international flight) I have conveyed to the wishes and suggestions and complaint units that this situation is not feasible. If the terms of use of the ticket had been explained at the decision stage, I would not have chosen the flight and would have accepted the payment. As a result, I work abroad, and they state that the situation regarding the ticket is only under the authority of the Turkish Airlines office staff at the airport, and they do not turn the reservation into a ticket. At the airport where the flight is taking place, there are only Turkish Airlines office staff at the time of the flight. In other words, I am asked to go to the airport a few hours before the 2:30 a.m. flight with my suitcase and wait to see if I am entitled to a 5-hour flight and to understand that this practice is normal according to the terms of the ticket. Now, should I wait at the airport in the middle of the night in order to be able to use the ticket given by Turkish Airlines, which has sold me an extra ticket, or is this practice absurd? It is up to you, reader. I will never buy an award ticket again. I have been struggling with this ticket for a month and there is still no progress. There is no authority to complain, so I finally decided to write here. I hope that the Turkish Airlines official will see this and correct this practice and I can use this ticket offered to me.
