On March 1st, 2024, I was a passenger on Turkish Airlines flight TK2418 from Istanbul to Antalya. When I arrived at my destination, I discovered that my Pierre Cardin carry-on suitcase had been damaged and was rendered unusable.
I filed a damage report and submitted a claim through the airline's baggage discrepancy website. However, they are refusing to compensate me for the full value of the suitcase, claiming that I need to provide the original purchase receipt.
I purchased the suitcase two years ago, and the price I paid at that time does not reflect the current market value. The price of the suitcase has nearly doubled since then.
This is not the first time that Turkish Airlines has damaged my luggage. In the past, they also damaged my Pierre Cardin medium-sized suitcase to the point of it being unusable. I filed a claim and received no compensation.
I believe that it is my right to receive my luggage back in the same condition that I checked it in. If it is returned to me in a damaged state, I should be compensated for the full value of the item, based on its current market price.
This is especially frustrating because I took great care of this suitcase and I loved using it. In the past, I had a similar incident with another airline, and they compensated me for the full value of my suitcase, even though it had only a small crack.
I am disappointed that a large and prestigious airline like Turkish Airlines is going to such lengths to avoid paying me for the damage they caused.
I am requesting that they compensate me for the full value of my suitcase, based on its current market price.
