Yandex Go Driver Demanded Extra Money Beyond the App Fare
At approximately 1:30 a.m. on August 1, we entered a taxi requested through Yandex Go with license plate 34 TAJ 47. Although the app displayed an estimated fare of approximately $16, the driver arbitrarily demanded an additional $15. The driver identified himself as Ö***** T**** and sent us an IBAN belonging to someone named F**** Ç***, asking us to transfer $84 to that account.
During and after the ride, we felt extremely pressured by these unfair demands. I am frustrated that drivers can allegedly misuse Yandex Go’s advertised 50% discount campaign in this manner without sufficient oversight. We received no additional service beyond the ride shown in the app, so demanding extra money violates both applicable law and consumer rights.
I contacted the support team through the Yandex Go app about the incident but received no satisfactory response. The company provided neither an explanation for the additional amount demanded nor any concrete information about action taken against the driver.
I am requesting that Yandex Go resolve the harm caused by this incident, investigate the unfair additional payment demand through its system, and impose the necessary sanctions on the driver. Yandex Go should also strengthen its driver monitoring procedures to prevent similar incidents.
