Turkish Airlines Damaged My Samsonite Suitcase and Refused to Cover Repairs

Turkish Airlines Damaged My Samsonite Suitcase and Refused to Cover Repairs
December 11, 2023 11:33 AM25

On December 1, 2023, I took flight TK057 from CKG to IST and transferred to flight TK2134 from IST to ESB. I traveled with my large Samsonite suitcase, which already had a small pre-existing damage (a 2-4 cm tear at the bottom).

The journey took approximately 16-18 hours, and I traveled with a delegation of industrial businessmen. When I collected my suitcase at Ankara airport, I noticed the damage had worsened. Still, I did not address it immediately due to fatigue and not wanting to delay the delegation. However, on December 3, Sunday, I finally realized the extent of the damage: both rear wheels were broken, the bottom tear had expanded to about 30-40 cm, the front Samsonite label was torn off, the zipper pulls were broken or missing, and there were additional localized tears.

Despite reporting this in writing to THY, they disregarded it because no report was filed at the airport. Customer satisfaction was completely ignored. If I had experienced a similar situation with a foreign airline, a more customer-oriented solution would have been provided (as I have personally experienced). I will not use this airline again unless necessary.
