THY Flight Cancellation Issue - Istanbul to Sharm El Sheikh
I purchased round-trip tickets from Istanbul Airport to Sharm El Sheikh via THY for the period of July 2-10. We arranged our holiday plans, obtained leave, and paid for hotel expenses. Two weeks before our vacation, our outbound flight was canceled. They offered options for ticket change or cancellation. When we checked for ticket changes, we found that only business class seats were available, which we couldn't change to, and they suggested we take a flight a day earlier. This results in an additional 2-day hotel expense. We are asking who will cover this cost. They say no definite payment will be made and decisions will be based on feedback. Not only are they not providing us with suitable tickets, but our leave period is also extended, and we incur extra hotel costs. Despite this inconvenience, I am told that there is nothing we can do as THY has the right to cancel flights.
The customer service we spoke to twice said that we needed to pay 19,000 TL to purchase a business class ticket and did not proceed with the transaction. The third time we called, customer service said that we could buy a business class ticket and that we were the ones being wronged, but they apologized on behalf of their colleague, saying that the plane was fully booked. Are you kidding me? Your incompetence is causing us to cancel the vacation we have been planning for a year. We barely managed to coordinate our leaves and arrange this trip! If there is a rule, everyone knows it and it applies equally to everyone. We expect an urgent resolution to this grievance.
