Issue with Turkish Airlines Flight Service on July 25, 2023
On July 25, 2023, after receiving my boarding pass for my flight scheduled to depart at 16:05 with boarding at 15:35, I arrived at the boarding area at 15:43 and reached the gate at 15:48, only to find that the gate had already closed. Despite there being 20 minutes left until departure, I was not allowed to board the plane. The staff directed me to a service area where I explained the situation. Although the flight had not yet taken off and was delayed, I was told to purchase a new ticket. After discussing with the supervisors, they agreed to give me a ticket for the night flight, but due to the flight being full, I was advised to get a penalized ticket to a nearby city. When there were no available seats in nearby cities, I was told to reapply 45 minutes before the night flight. Upon arrival for the night flight, I was asked to pay the full ticket price and was forced to do so as the flight was about to depart. When I finally boarded, the gate remained open past the departure time, and I was kept waiting inside the plane for 20 minutes. I strongly object to THY's double standards. Despite being able to board my original flight without any issues, I was subjected to unnecessary delays and forced to buy the most expensive ticket for the night flight. I demand immediate action and restitution for the inconvenience and additional costs incurred.
