Turkish Airlines Denied Me to Board Despite Being on Time
I had a flight with Turkish Airlines (THY) on 01.09.2023 at 07:50 from Istanbul to Basel. Due to the slow service at THY's check-in counters, I arrived at the boarding gate 15 minutes before departure. Despite seeing me arrive, the staff at gate D2 closed the door and prevented me from boarding. I had two pieces of luggage on the plane, and it seems the decision to close the gate 15 minutes prior had been made at least half an hour earlier to locate and remove my luggage. When I reached the gate, I still had a chance to board, but due to the staff's attitude and decision, I missed my flight. Additionally, I was threatened with police action for insisting on boarding my rightful flight. In fact, I should have been the one to call the police. THY effectively confiscated my ticket, causing significant financial and emotional distress. I don't understand how they can sell student tickets and then leave students stranded like this. I couldn't even exercise my right to file a complaint as I couldn't access the camera footage or staff information related to the incident. No satisfactory proof was provided as to why I was not allowed to board. There needs to be evidence showing when the decision to not allow me on the flight was made. The attitude of the staff at the gate is another issue that needs addressing.
