Despite arriving at the airport an hour before departure, we were unable to check in with Turkish Airlines and were denied boarding. I tried to check in online while on the way, but the website was not working. Upon arrival at Istanbul Airport, we received no assistance and were repeatedly redirected, only to be told that we were late. We ended up purchasing tickets for the next day, paying almost a third of the original ticket price. Additionally, we lost a day at our hotel.
We even suggested they check the security cameras to prove we were on time, but they dismissed our request. We were advised to arrive 3 hours early in the future because even if we are on time, we could still be denied boarding due to overbooking. It seems that our tickets were also resold, leading to our denial of boarding. How are we supposed to recover the extra ticket costs and the lost day at our hotel? What a world-class airline indeed.
