I Face Turkcell Overcharge Due to 5G Double Internet Restriction

While using my Turkcell Advantage 30 package, on March 31, 2026, an additional 120 GB of internet was added to my line as part of the 5G Doubling Internet campaign. At that time, I still had 6 GB remaining in my main package.

On the evening of April 3, 2026, at 10:41 PM in Adana/Seyhan, I started downloading files from my mobile phone to my computer using mobile hotspot (internet sharing). I assumed that after my remaining 6 GB was used, the usage would continue to be deducted from the additional 120 GB provided by the campaign.

However, instead of using the campaign data, my usage after the initial 6 GB was charged as out-of-package usage, and 3 GB of extra usage was recorded on my line (538*2130**). As a result, an additional charge of approximately $12 was added to my April 2026 bill.

When I contacted Turkcell customer service around 11:00 PM the same night, I was informed that the 5G Doubling Internet campaign is only valid for direct phone usage and cannot be used via hotspot. Later, I found multiple similar complaints online from users who were also informed of this limitation only after being charged.

However, I was never clearly informed about this restriction in advance—neither via SMS nor through the mobile application. When I clicked the link in the SMS stating that “120 GB has been allocated,” I was not directed to detailed campaign terms, but only to a screen showing my remaining usage.

Under these circumstances, it was impossible for me to know that the campaign data could not be used for hotspot sharing. I find it unfair and misleading that I was charged overage fees based on a technical restriction that was not clearly communicated.

For this reason, I request that the $12 overage charge reflected on my bill due to this campaign limitation be fully refunded or canceled, and that my April 2026 invoice be corrected accordingly.
