On Sunday, August 11, 2024, I had a ticket for the Sunexpress Munich-Ankara flight at 11:10 AM. I completed my check-in online and arrived at Munich Airport at 10:00 AM to drop off my luggage. The check-in sign indicated that the counter was open, but there were no staff members present to handle the process. I waited in front of the counter for an hour, but no one showed up. I searched for someone to assist me, but couldn’t find anyone. As a result, I couldn’t drop off my luggage and missed my flight, losing my ticket.
When I explained the situation to a friend who works at Munich Airport, they told me that it’s unusual for baggage drop-off to close so early, but such issues are common with Sunexpress. I had to purchase a new ticket for the next day. This time, I arrived at the airport 3.5 hours before the flight, successfully checked in my luggage, and boarded the plane. I thought I was in the clear, but little did I know that my troubles were just beginning.
When I landed and went to pick up my luggage, I was shocked to find my suitcase burst open and my belongings scattered. Some items were missing, including a cellphone and chocolates I had bought in Germany. The zipper of my suitcase was broken, and two wheels were damaged. I asked for compensation, but Sunexpress requested receipts for my suitcase and the missing items. I explained that I didn’t have receipts, and the issue remains unresolved.
