I am writing from Bursa, Turkey to report a chronic hardware failure affecting two Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra devices that I purchased second-hand. This is a systemic design defect, not the result of misuse. The first device, purchased in 2022, failed after one year of use. The second device, purchased in January 2026, failed within just two months. As a technician, I personally verified that both devices were in pristine, original factory condition, with untouched seals and screws, ruling out any prior repairs or tampering. I also confirm that both devices were charged exclusively using genuine Samsung adapters and cables. In both cases, the failure was identical: the main FPC connector on the motherboard overheated and melted. This is a clear thermal design flaw, as the component cannot withstand normal operating conditions. Once this damage occurs, the device completely loses cellular signal, microphone, and speaker functionality. I experienced this exact catastrophic failure on two separate Note 20 Ultra units. Authorized Samsung service centers treated this as a standard out-of-warranty issue and offered only a paid motherboard replacement, refusing any component-level repair. The quoted cost was approximately equivalent to two-thirds of the device’s market value—essentially the price of purchasing another phone. It is irrational to pay this amount for a replacement motherboard that contains the same defect-prone design, especially when the root cause is a manufacturing flaw. As a technician, I clearly identify the root cause as chronic overheating and melting of the FPC connector due to a thermal design defect. My expectation is not a standard repair using the same faulty part. I formally request a free motherboard replacement using a revised version that eliminates this overheating issue. If no reliable revised part exists, I demand either a full refund or an exchange for a non-defective model, such as the Galaxy S24 Ultra. I do not accept a temporary or repeat-failure solution. I have lost two flagship devices and suffered significant financial loss. I ask Samsung to officially acknowledge this defect in the Galaxy Note 20 Ultra and provide a permanent and fair resolution.
