Ryanair Flight FR4962 Missed Due to Extreme Airport Delays, Seeking Compensation for Heavy Losses
On July 26 at 16:45, I was scheduled to fly with Ryanair on flight FR4962 from Brussels Charleroi to Sofia, holding a standard ticket with an additional 20 kg checked bag. Despite arriving at the airport on time and checking in my luggage without issue, I was prevented from boarding due to extraordinary congestion and unusually long security checks. To my dismay, I later learned that my luggage had been loaded onto the aircraft while I was left behind at the terminal. I immediately attempted to contact Ryanair customer service to resolve the situation, but received no response. Instead, I was offered only an alternative flight five days later, which was impossible for me to accept due to work commitments. I was therefore forced to purchase a new ticket with another airline for a flight two days later and incurred additional costs for hotel accommodation and meals during the extended wait. In total, I suffered significant financial losses: approximately ₺20,000 for the original ticket and baggage, ₺15,000 for the hotel, and ₺10,000 for food and other expenses. Beyond the financial burden, the disruption also put my professional obligations at risk. Since these delays were caused by extraordinary, unforeseeable conditions at the airport that were entirely beyond my control, I believe this situation should be considered a force majeure event. I demand full compensation for my losses and for Ryanair to take responsibility for the severe inconvenience I endured.
