During my Ryanair flight from Faro to Rome, where I had a transit connection, I encountered a completely unacceptable issue regarding baggage. I was traveling with a steel case that fully met the official size requirement—55x40x20 cm. Despite this, when I went through baggage check, a Ryanair staff member insisted the bag was oversized by one centimeter and refused to accept it as cabin baggage.
I asked for a measuring tool so the bag could be verified properly, but my request was ignored. I was pressured to pay an additional fee, and the tone used by the staff member was inappropriate and unprofessional. Even worse, I witnessed several other passengers being told different prices for the same issue. It was clear that the process was arbitrary and inconsistent.
We were held up for an extended period due to their “system being down,” and were later told to make payments online. The entire experience felt like a cash grab disguised as a baggage policy.
Ryanair, this is unacceptable. You need to train your staff, apply consistent standards, and stop extorting travelers over bags that clearly meet the published size requirements. I demand a refund and a formal apology. This practice needs to stop.
