Pegasus Airlines Received 18 Kg Of My Luggage And Returned 7 Kg
On December 18, 2023, my wife, son, and I took a Pegasus Airlines flight from Eindhoven Airport in the Netherlands, with a transfer at Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen Airport, ultimately arriving in Konya. Upon reaching Konya, we discovered that our 18.2 kg baggage did not arrive. We promptly filed a lost baggage report with the ground services company, Havaş. The baggage finally arrived at Konya Airport 5 days later, on December 23, 2023, but to my dismay, it was delivered with 11 kg of items missing.
The Havaş representative explained that the baggage was sent from Istanbul as 7 kg, and I was advised to contact Pegasus for further assistance. I reported the situation to Pegasus on the same day. However, after 96 hours, I received the following response: "The control and follow-up of complaints about lost items inside the baggage are carried out through the inspection of camera footage by the Security Directorate in the areas, as per the request of our guest. The liability of Pegasus Airlines as the carrier for registered baggage during transportation is limited by applicable legal regulations in the case of damage, loss, or delayed delivery."
Pegasus, acknowledging responsibility for the lost suitcase, declared that they are not liable for the loss of the 11 kg of items inside the suitcase. They suggested I resolve the matter with the Security Directorate. It is documented that the registered weight of the provided suitcase was 18 kg, and the received suitcase was documented as weighing 7 kg. As 11 kg of my baggage is still missing, I believe I am entitled to compensation for the loss and request the resolution of my grievance.
