Deceptive Sales And Hidden Itinerary Practices By IndiGo Airlines

May 11 10:49 AM48

I am filing this complaint against IndiGo Airlines for misleading and non‑transparent sales practices regarding my international flight from Phuket to Istanbul, purchased through IndiGo’s official website on 07.04.2026 for travel on 30.05.2026. During the online booking process, the journey was clearly presented as having only one stopover in Mumbai, and my official electronic ticket likewise showed only Mumbai as the intermediate point. At no stage before payment or on the e‑ticket was there any mention of Jeddah or Saudi Arabia, nor any indication that the journey would involve an additional stop or aircraft‑related procedure in another country. After completing the payment, I later logged into IndiGo’s website to review my reservation and then discovered that the itinerary actually includes a technical stop and change of aircraft in Jeddah (JED). On the system display, this appears as a “change of aircraft,” while, in contradiction, IndiGo’s customer service describes it as merely a “refuelling halt.” This inconsistency in how the stop is defined creates confusion and, in my view, clearly misleads the passenger about the true routing of the flight. In my written and chat communications with IndiGo customer service, a representative explicitly admitted that such technical stops are “generally not shown on the ticket.” Hiding the fact that the flight passes through and lands in another country, and only revealing it after purchase inside the booking details, is, in my opinion, a deceptive sales practice and a serious breach of the duty of transparency owed to passengers, especially in international travel. I do not consent to travel via an undisclosed country, and I would not have purchased this ticket had the Jeddah technical stop and aircraft change been clearly indicated in the itinerary and ticket before payment. Despite this, IndiGo has refused my request for a full refund. Their official response is that the Jeddah stop is only a technical refuelling halt, that passengers cannot disembark or enter the country, that such stops “may not always be reflected prominently” on the ticket as per their practice, and that, as a result, my booking does not qualify for a refund under their fare rules. I consider this a fraudulent and misleading sale because the actual route and landing in another country were not transparently disclosed before purchase. I am therefore requesting an immediate full refund of my ticket without being forced to travel or accept this undisclosed routing. I also state that I am keeping all evidence, including ticket screenshots, booking displays showing the Jeddah stop, and full chat transcripts with IndiGo representatives, and I am sharing these with the relevant aviation and consumer authorities and with my bank for chargeback review. I request that IndiGo be instructed to provide a full refund for this ticket and that the company be reminded of its obligation to clearly disclose all flight segments and technical landings that may affect a passenger’s decision to purchase, especially for international routes.
