Hotmail Account Hacked Despite Two-Step Verification — $500 Blackmail Threat
Two days ago, a cyberattack was carried out on my Hotmail account through my mobile phone. My account information was changed without my permission, and even though I changed my password, the attacker gained access again.
Later, I received an email threat saying that my account had been hacked and that unless I paid $500, my personal information would be shared with my friends and colleagues.
My account contains sensitive personal data, and I’m currently facing the threat of having it leaked. The issue occurred multiple times through the Hotmail mobile app.
Even though I had two-step verification enabled with my phone number, the attacker was still able to access my account.
This incident happened in Bursa, Turkey.
What I expect from Hotmail (Microsoft) is immediate support to block the attacker, secure my account, and prevent further threats.
I also declare that any actions or communications made from my account after this attack were not carried out by me. I do not accept any responsibility for any such actions.
