Ajet Kept 71.65% (13,002 TL) For Cancellation 9 Days Before Flight

On 28 October 2026 I cancelled my round-trip Ajet ticket for the Ankara (ESB) – Paris route, booked for outbound travel on 6 November 2026 and return on 8 November 2026, for a total price of 18,146.05 TL. PNR: 4UNS08. For this cancellation I was offered a refund of only 5,143.68 TL out of 18,146.05 TL paid, which means a deduction of 13,002.37 TL, corresponding to 71.65% of the ticket price. I had to cancel my trip due to extraordinary and unforeseeable events that occurred in France after I purchased the ticket. There were mass protests in Paris with hundreds of thousands of people, incidents of street violence and police interventions, especially in central areas. My trip was planned only for Paris, so travelling under these circumstances would have posed a serious risk to my personal safety. Before cancelling, I called the Ajet call center several times and spoke with different representatives. Each time I was told that since I had not purchased the “flex package”, I had no option other than a refund of 5,143.68 TL with a deduction of 13,002.37 TL, and that an open ticket or any flexibility was not possible. I therefore had no real choice and had to accept the cancellation under these conditions. I find a 71.65% deduction for a cancellation made 9 days before departure, at a time when the seats can still be resold, to be disproportionate and unfair. In my opinion, this clause and its rigid application are contrary to Turkish Consumer Protection Law No. 6502, Article 5 on unfair terms in consumer contracts, because the amount withheld clearly exceeds Ajet’s actual and reasonable costs. I request a full cash refund of the deducted amount of 13,002.37 TL to my original payment method. If a full refund is not accepted, I request that the deduction be reduced to a fair level that reflects only Ajet’s actual and documented costs, and that the difference be refunded to me in cash. I do not accept a voucher, travel credit or open ticket. In addition, I request a written, itemised breakdown of the deduction, clearly separating the fare, taxes and fees, and a written response to this complaint.
